Are you having trouble with tripping RCDs? We have made this guide to help solve some of the most common problems ..

Problem, My RCD keeps nuisance tripping

This can happen for a number of reasons, however you can carry out checks without the aid of an electrician.

(1)As a first action try to reset the RCD to the on position, it could be something simple like a blown bulb.

(2) If the RCD continues to trip remove ALL items which are plugged into sockets and switch of any fuse spurs you may have in the on position. Now try to reset the RCD, this will fix the problem in many cases.

(3)If the RCD does stay on and does not trip again then it is time to find the offending item.Start by slowly plugging in each of the items you removed earlier, once the RCD trips again you will know what is causing the problem.

If however once you carry out number (2) and this still doesn’t work you may have a wiring or connection problem. It is would be advisable to get an electrician in to check the installation. VCO Electrical are on call 24/7 365 days a year, Please call 0800-019-3720
